WHO WE ARE

The Travellers' Aid Society of Toronto (TAS) is a volunteer driven Registered Canadian Charitable Organization (Registration #119268621- RR-0001) funded solely by private donations. Since its founding in 1903 by Mrs. Lillian Massey-Tremble, the Society has provided a base of much needed community and travel information, as well as other help and referral assistance to in-transit travellers, many of whom find themselves in crisis situations.

Travellers' Aid Society of Toronto are members of Travellers' Aid International (TAI) which has been helping people away from home for more than 150 years. Therefore, we use the TAI's Little Blue Man logo.

WHY WE ARE NEEDED

Ever since the Travellers' Aid Society of Toronto was founded, there has been a special desire to assist "Strangers-in-a-Strange-Place".

Travellers' Aid Society of Toronto understands the difficulties of being stranded in a strange community, disconnected from family/friends, with limited access to your resources. TAS offers a helping hand along the way.

MISSION STATEMENT

"To render service to the travelling public in need of temporary assistance, without regard to age, colour, creed, race, sex, sexual orientation, or circumstance."

WHAT WE DO

OUR FREE SERVICES TO THE TRAVELLING PUBLIC INCLUDE:

• Finding hostel, bed and breakfast, hotel, motel, and emergency accommodations
• In cooperation with other Social and Welfare Agencies providing bus/rail tickets in emergency situations
• Providing tourist information, maps and suggestions about what to see and do in Toronto and the surrounding area
• Acting as a referral link between stranded travellers, immigrants and the various social agencies.
• Helping travellers solve day-to-day challenges that face them
• Assisting the elderly, ill and physically challenged travellers by connecting them to trained airport personnel for appropriate community services.
